How WaterMatrix Works Under the Hood
Why client-side processing is the future of digital file privacy — and why your files will never be uploaded to our servers.

1. The HTML5 File Sandbox
When you drag files or an entire directory into WaterMatrix, your web browser uses the standard HTML5 File and Drag-and-Drop API. This generates local in-memory File and Blob references on your device. Unlike traditional web applications, WaterMatrix does not send an HTTP POST or upload these files anywhere.
2. High-Performance Canvas 2D Engine for Images
For image files (JPEG, PNG, WebP), your browser's hardware-accelerated Canvas engine renders the image into an offscreen buffer. The watermark logo is then rendered on top with exact math calculations for scale, alpha transparency, rotation matrix transformations, and rounded corner clipping paths.
3. Binary PDF Parsing via pdf-lib
For PDF documents, WaterMatrix uses pdf-lib, a library compiled to operate on raw ArrayBuffer and Uint8Array byte streams. It parses the document's cross-reference tables and embeds the rounded watermark image directly into each page's content stream before saving the modified bytes back to memory.
4. In-Memory ZIP Compilation & Direct Download
Once watermarked, outputs are routed into an asynchronous JSZip virtual file tree that preserves your original folder structure. When processing completes, file-saver generates a browser download prompt. At no point did any network packet containing your data leave your machine.
How You Can Verify Our Zero-Upload Guarantee
Open your browser developer tools (press F12), navigate to the Network tab, and filter by Fetch/XHR. Run any batch watermarking job on 500 files. You will observe zero outgoing data transmissions for your files.
